wine
What is the difference between the two wines types Bardolino and Valpolicella?
Bardolino and Valpolicella are two wine typologies made from the same blend of grapes (Corvina, Rondinella, Molinara) being grown in two different vinegrowing areas (Bardolino and Valpolicella). The different pedoclimatic characteristics of each area determine the organoleptic differences between the two wines.

wine
What does “blend” mean?
“Blend” is the mixture of the grape varieties a given wine is made from.

How should wine be stored?
The correct storing of wine is strictly dependent on the environmental conditions of the place meant to store your wine. As a general rule of thumb, wherever the wine is stored, it should be a dark, cool and clean place, away from vibrations. The temperature should be right around 14 C° and humidity rate between 70 and 80%. Wine bottles should be stored horizontally, keeping the wine in contact with the cork. A moist cork remains swollen, preventing air from reaching the wine.

wine
How is Chiaretto wine produced?
Chiaretto is a rosè wine produced with red berried grapes which are vinified following the common procedure used in white wines. The grapes are destalked and crushed and the resulting must is allowed to macerate in the vats with the skins for a variable time from 24 to 36 hours, long enough for the wine to obtain its typical pink colour.

How are Italian wines classified?
According to the current Italian Quality Classification System on wine, Italian wines are classified, in ascending order, as follows: VINO DA TAVOLA - appellation being given to the wines of modest quality, whose production is regulated by wine laws that are not as strict as the ones concerning “quality wines”; IGT - qualification given to quality table wines that are allowed to specify their region or district of origin and whose production is not under very strict regulations; DOC - appellation obtained by quality wines produced within a rather limited area and that specify their geographical zone, yields and the like. DOCG (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita) - the prestigious premium quality status some DOC wines are granted. Besides meeting all quality standards required for DOC, DOCG wines must be subject to a governmental tasting aiming at guaranteeing the quality and the origin of the given wine before each bottle is secured with a government seal with a unique serial number. DOC and DOCG wines must meet standards that are stricter than those stipulated in IGT regulations.

wine
What is meant by wine tasting?
Wine tasting is the procedure aiming at identifying and evaluating the organoleptic characteristics of given wines, that are perceived through all the senses, namely sight, smell and taste. A wine tasting is a step-by-step evaluation process made of specific phases, the first one being the visual assessment of the wine’s appearance. This phase is followed by the olfactory analysis, that allows for the recognition of the aromas, and is then completed by the wine gustatory evaluation, determining the perceived flavours.

wine
In summertime is it possible to keep the wine in the car?
During the summer months temperatures can soar very high. Since changes of temperatures can have a deleterious effect on wine, it’s best to avoid keeping wine bottles in your car, especially if it is exposed to high outside temperatures.

wine
How should refined red wines such as our Amarone wines or barrel-aged wines such as Cruino, Corvar and Merlar, be consumed?
Full-bodied, intensely flavoured and mature wines should be decanted at least 30 minutes prior to their consumption. Decanting is generally done to separate the wine from any sediment deposited in the bottom of the bottle during the aging process. Decanting is also done to allow a wine to "breathe," which thereby enhances its flavour.
